Fashion Forecast for Spring-Summer 2021

Spring-summer fashion is all about some fun in the sun. With most of us already daydreaming about the places we’ll go in the new year; it comes as no surprise that putting together outfits and experimenting with new trends is a prerequisite. Right now, with the winter chill around, your summer wardrobe might look a bit unprepared. However, fret not as we bring you chic outfit ideas you can flaunt at your next brunch or soirée.

Flares, Culottes and Wide-leg Trousers

If you’ve been scrolling through your Instagram feed, you’ve probably noticed wide-leg trousers, flare pants and bell bottoms becoming the pants of choice of every fashion enthusiast out there. What’s so great about them? Well, they’re super-versatile, relaxed and sophisticated. Thankfully, this trend is here to stay even in 2021. They can elevate even the most casual look. Style them with a round-neck tee, an overcoat, blazer or a tank top to look effortlessly stylish at your next summer outing. We’d recommend you stock up on three basic colours including denim, white and black. They literally go with everything and can give your old top a new lease of life.

We absolutely love these ones from M&S.

Puffy Sleeves

Fashion forecast in 2021 is going to be seeing an obsession with puffy and voluminous sleeves. It’s definitely a season must have. Larger-than-life, dramatic sleeves will look flattering when worn as tops or dresses. Since summer is all about fluid and sustainable fashion, you can probably choose a dress that has a breezy fabric and statement sleeves. While a puffy blouse teamed with skirt or wide-leg trousers would be great for a Sunday brunch, think of a flowy black dress with balloon sleeves for a date night or girls’ night out.

Think Bold Prints over Neon

The neon ‘glow with the flow’ trend is something that was all over in 2020. Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani and Deepika Padukone were a few of the ace Bollywood celebrities to jump on to this bandwagon.  To be honest, it was overdone and I feel like that trend has run its course. As we come to the end of the year, the hype seems to have tapered off a bit. The question remains – what’s it that will replace fuchsia and fluorescent green?

We’re rooting for bright, big and bold prints including florals, gingham, polka dots and large stripes. In most of the SS21 fashion weeks, models were seen wearing prints with pride. This runway favourite is all set to become a staple in your summer wardrobe. Stock up on floral and polka dresses, blouses and swimwear. If it’s safe to travel by summer 2021, you might just want to pick up this edgy, tropical swimsuit that will make you want to bask in the sun all day.

Bralette – Less is More

2021 is going to be all about flashing the flesh. Expect to see lingerie-inspired tops in retro prints, crochet and metallic hues. We already got a glimpse of it at the Alberta Ferretti spring-summer 2021 show. Style them as a top of its own or if you’re someone cringing at the idea of wearing a bra as a top, you can layer-up a bit by styling it under a blazer. A bralette under a pantsuit would look great. Team your look with some chic accessories and you’ll definitely raise temperatures at your next outing.

Black Face Masks

There is no surprise that wearing a face mask in public has become a norm. Since coronavirus is here to stay, being masked is important to protect yourself. While you do so, you might as well do it beautifully. As you embrace the mask fashion, choose something that seamlessly blends with your ensemble.

Black face masks seem to be a trend in Asian countries. They go with anything you wear and are ideal for both day and night looks. Hence, if you don’t own a black mask, it’s time to buy one already. Choose something that is soft and breathable, and provides great coverage for the nose and mouth.

Fashion Forecast for Autumn-Winter 2021

Winter fashion has always been straightforward. Tonnes of layering, comfortable and warm coats and glittery party wear have always been a staple. Though these trends will spill-over to 2021, autumn-winter fashion is all set to be redefined. Leather coats, velvet pants, high-boots, and quilted and puffer jackets are all set to make a comeback.

If you’re looking to turn up the heat in the winter chill next year, we’ve got you covered with the best fashion forecast for 2021.

Puffer Jacket

Every fashion blogger on the ‘gram seems to be acing the puffer jacket look. While they provide extreme volume, they are also highly comfortable and minimal. In 2021, it is all set to become an indispensable part of every winter wardrobe. The best part about a short or long puffer jacket is its versatility. It looks great when worn over skinny jeans and a large-collared shirt, even better with a long, flowy dress.

Mustard Maxi Coats

For long, we’ve been told that winter is all about natural hues and tones. Think brown, beige, off-white and black. 2021 is all set to bust that myth. You can brighten up even the coldest days with a bright coloured coat. Yellow, mustard and other hues on the colour palette look flattering in winter too. We’d suggest you have at least one warm yellow/mustard piece in your closet. Whether it’s a turtle neck top, trench coat or sweater, there are plenty of ways to make a yellow piece work for you.

Whether you wear it with a dress, pant suit or a pair of leggings, your white boots will not just stand out but also keep your legs warm. In 2021, expect to see people wearing them with oversized trousers and jeans. You can also go in for an all-leather look by pairing them with a leather blouse or dress.

Knitted Dress for Fall 2021

When it comes to knitted pieces, sweaters and cardigans have always been our go-to choices. Well, it’s winter and it’s time to hide the flesh, isn’t it? However, lately knitted dresses seem to have found their way into the spotlight. They’re oh-so cosy, warm and flattering. Since it is fitted and straight, it looks good on any body type. There are tonnes of ways in which you can make a knitted dress look interesting. Pair them with a large faux leather tote or wear a waist belt for a more slimming look, and you’ll definitely get heads turning.
