Product Review ALERT- 5 Products from the ‘Happilo’ Range!5 minute
By Ruchi Sharma
Winters are almost here! With the mercury dipping further each day, our snacking options are changing as well. The hot tea with piping hot snacks is something we love but one ‘no effort’ high energy snack we all abide by- it is undoubtedly dry fruits. In most of our houses cashews, almonds and raisins are always present (specially during winters!) for some early morning snacks or mid evening snacks. Be it handing over a handful of nuts to the kids, early morning before they leave for school or munching a few for mid evening cravings, dry fruits are filing, healthy and super tasty. The dry-fruits and berries are basically superfoods with tremendous health benefits as well. But there aren’t many options to try from when you consider quality brands for buying dry fruits. And thus, the consistency of taste and quality is often missing. So, after reading a lot about the ‘HAPPILO’ range, we tried a few nuts and berries packs and here is an honest review for you!
1. Happilo Premium 100% Natural Californian Inshell Walnut Kernel
The first thing that really impressed was that you can actually break most of the walnut shells open with your hands, i.e. you don’t require a nut cracker! Nearly 80% of the walnut shells were easy to open by applying pressure between the palms, which is a quality of a good Walnut. The benefits of walnuts aren’t hidden from anyone. Being a great source of Omega-3, they are a low-calorie nut which is an added advantage. Talking about taste, these walnuts were surprisingly one of the tastiest I've ever tasted! The only thing you need to check while buying online is the expiry date as the taste quality goes down significantly if they are near expiry.
Value for Money: 4/5
2. Happilo Premium Dried Californian Blueberries
It says it is 100% real dried fruit but personally wasn’t that fond of this one. Reason being it was extremely dry and felt a little too sweet that felt like traces of sugar, which was actually true since the ingredients specify it has sunflower oil and sugar. That’s why the natural taste of blueberry was a little lost. Basically, good for baking or other similar purposes, but if you want to enjoy eating them as is, they are not really that good.
Value for Money: 3.5/5
3. Happilo Premium Seedless Green Raisins
The raisins quality is quite good, they are not too small, and taste really well. The sweet, juicy and fresh taste makes them a must buy if you are fond of raisins. The best part is that in the market quite a few raisins are actually artificially sweetened, but these don’t have added sugar. One suggestion would be to transfer them to an air tight container post opening to retain freshness as the pack itself is not airtight.
Value for Money: 4.5/5
4. Happilo Premium Afghani Anjeer
Anjeer is a rich source of fiber, calcium and potassium and is a perfect snack specially for vegetarians since it is rich in protein. Basically, they are dried figs but finding good quality Anjeer is a difficult task, as the same issue of artificially sweetened or too dry Anjeer is found in the ones we buy in market. But this Happilo pack was once again one of the best in the market. The taste was awesome and quite refreshing as well.
Value for Money: 4/5
5. Happilo Afghani Seedless Black Raisins
The benefits of black raisins go much beyond being rich in Vitamin B, iron and potassium. They can help in increasing immunity too. And this one was actually the best of the lot. It not only makes for a great healthy snack when accompanied with cashews and almonds but it is perfect for using in baked goodies too. The taste was really sweet and that too without any artificial addition of sugar.
Value for Money: 4/5
A friendly TIP: We noticed that quite a few reviews online mention quality issues or near expiry products being sent so we would suggest you either buy from verified sellers and keep track of the expiry date or prefer buying it from a supermarket near you after checking the packaging dates!
Though the taste test might vary from person to person and your taste palette too but this one is a personal review after trying out these products from Happilo and being quite ‘happy’ with the products offered by the brand. We will soon be back with another instalment after trying out a few more products from this range specially the Tropical Fruit Medley, Pine Nuts etc and the evregreen Cashews and Almonds as well. Till then do tell us if you tried out any of these and what you liked or didn’t like about them!!!
