“Sometimes music is the only medicine the heart and soul need”.

When I’m feeling dull, I head to the gym, and when I feel like I need to exercise my brain, I listen to music. Oh yes, music is like therapy for me. After a tough day at work, I sit back, put on my earphones and listen to my favourite tunes on loop. Research suggests that listening to music before you sleep can improve your sleep quality, overall mood, reduce anxiety and enhance mental alertness.

So, my playlist comprises 50+ songs that are organised and ranked. You’ll find evergreen hits, tunes from the 80s, Punjabi pop and all the latest Bollywood numbers. Well, my playlist receives some regular updates. I don’t really share a list of my favourite songs with anyone. However today, I am going to give you all a sneak-peek into my Spotify playlist.

My Top 10 Favourite Songs at the Moment, Ranked

  1. Mann Bharryaa 2.0

The recent Bollywood film Shershaah, has left a tremendous impact on me. As much as I loved the movie, the songs are even better. One such song that I’m literally listening to all day is Mann Bharryaa. It is an emotional, heart-wrenching song that will make you miss a loved one you’ve lost. The song has been composed and sung by Punjabi singer, B Praak. Originally, the song was released four years ago and marked the debut of the singer. However, a 2.0 version of the song was used in Sidharth Malhotra starrer, Shershaah. You can even listen to the unplugged versions of this song on YouTube.

  1. Manike Mage Hithe

I believe to enjoy a song you don’t necessarily have to understand the lyrics. Manike Mage Hithe is a song I heard on Instagram reels and ever since then it’s stuck in my head. In fact, it’s ruling the music charts all over the country and even Bollywood actors seem to be obsessed with it. The original song was produced by Chamath Sangeeth in 2020. However, the cover sung by Lankan singer-rapper, Yohani, broke the internet recently. It’s almost become an earworm. You’ll find countless regional covers and dance videos on YouTube. As I write this blog too, I’m humming this catchy strain.

  1. Ranjha

This one’s another B Praak number from the film Shershaah. However, the female voice is that of Jasleen Royal of Din Shagna Da fame. Ranjha is a melodious song that will give you all the feels. It would even make a great bridal entry song. It has broken records all over the world. If you’ve fallen in love recently, you should be listening to this one. Honestly, I love it.

  1. Bad Habits

Ed Sheeran is my favourite singer and songwriter. Whether it’s Shape of You or Photograph, there’s something about his music. A recent favourite is his latest number, Bad Habits. It’s a full-fledged dance tune that’s perfect to be heard on long-drives and club nights.

  1. Sakhiyan 2.0

Whether it’s Punjabi folk or Punjabi pop, both these genres give me goose-flesh. In 2018 when Maninder Buttar’s Sakhiyan released, I was in love with it. No cover could do justice to the original. Three years later, Sakhiyan 2.0 released, and oh boy! I was wrong. The groovy number made its comeback in the Akshay Kumar starrer, Bellbottom. The song is sure to get your foot-tapping. Personally, I can listen to it and dance in front of the mirror for hours. If you’ve heard the original, go ahead and add this to your playlist as it definitely won’t disappoint.

  1. Raatan Lambiyan

Another catchy number from Shershaah (yes, I’m obsessed). Sung by Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur, Raatan Lambiyan has garnered over 200 million views on YouTube. It’s a romantic, melodious track with great lyrics penned by Tanishk Bagchi. Whether you’re in love or not, this song is a winner. Add it to your playlist ASAP.

  1. Touch It

Thanks to Instagram Reels, this song made its way into my playlist. After watching hundreds of videos of users shaking their booty to this number, I was sold too. Though I haven’t mastered the lyrics yet, I still hum the beats. Touch It by KiDi is a catchy, foot-tapping number that will instantly change your mood.

  1. Stay

No matter what anybody says, I will always be a Justin Bieber fan. Stay is a hip-pop and pop-rock song sung by Bieber and Australian rapper, The Kid Laroi. It’s a beautiful mix of piano keys and heavy drums. This song was introduced to me by a friend. The lyrics are like any other Bieber song. However, the beats stay with you for long after you’ve heard it. It’s ruling the English charts across the world and has also been performed at several live shows.

  1. Waalian

Waalian is a Punjabi track that was released a year ago but still holds a special place in my heart and on my playlist. I don’t seem to be getting bored of it any time soon. Sung by Harnoor, the lyrics aren’t something anybody can understand. But if you delve deep and get to the real meaning of the song, you’ll realise how beautiful it is. It’s an ode by the artist to his lover. As much as the original song is ear-catching, the different covers sung by female singers on YouTube are worth listening to too.

  1. Jalebi Baby

The last track on my top 10 favourite songs playlist is Jalebi Baby by Tesher. The Punjabi-English song made its massive debut last year and ever since then people are hooked on to it. Recently, the Jason Derulo version of the song even broke the internet. From wedding sangeets to Bollywood nights, this song’s catchy beats and unique lyrics are worth grooving to.

Thus, here’s a round-up of my favourite songs. What are you listening to at the moment? We’d love to know in the comments section below.

Happy grooving!
