Some things are always evergreen. Be it watching the beautiful sunrise or enjoying that delicious cotton candy, one can’t really grow too old to enjoy such little pleasures. Similarly, there is a treasure of books which are always evergreen. In fact, they are such a joy to read that you will enjoy the time spent over reading them, even if you might have read them sometime in your childhood days already. We have compiled a list of some lovely reads which can never get too old. So, if you still think that these books are only for kids, then you need to think once again. Time to read these from the perspective of an adult and learn things which you might have missed during your childhood time! Also, these books are just perfect for your special time with your children, where not only you enjoy with them but impart the moral lessons of life at the same time.
1. Tenali Rama Stories
This series is full of stories circling around the wit and humor and the lovely camaraderie between our very own Tenali Rama and Raja Krishnadevarya which is a treat to read. How Tenali Rama has a solution for almost everything and how he deals with his arch rival minister Tathacharya has so many lessons for each one of us.
2. The Panchtantra Tales
Not only does this book have some beautiful illustrations but it also has all the important lessons that we learnt during our childhood days. And these lessons are certainly evergreen. Time to refresh our memories once again and find all those value lessons that could help us with our day to day lives!
3. Vikram Betal
Now who doesn’t remember the naughty ghost Betal who used to always get away from the great king Vikramaditya by reciting some striking stories. Based on Betaal Pachisi, the stories recited by Betal all have a riddle which the King Vikramaditya needs to solve if he has to retain the ghost in his captivity. The riddles are mind boggling and also the condition that if the king remains silent in spite of knowing the answer, his head would burst into thousand pieces, is something which keeps us on the edge!
4. Malgudi Days
RK Narayan’s Malgudi Days is so popular and the heart-warming stories of Swami and his friends are amazing. The success of this book can be known from the fact that so many series were made on it and the original series titled Malgudi Days that came in the year 1986 is still so popular on Disney+Hotstar. But just like how Harry Potter fans would say, the major fun is in reading the original books!
5. Amar Chitra Katha Books
Choosing one from the vast and amazing collection of Amar Chitra Katha books is the most difficult thing to do for anyone! The beautiful illustrations are an additional treat over the wonderful stories. Be it ultimate classics having retellings of India’s best contemporary and classic kids’ stories or the beautiful series featuring Indian mythological stories, each one of them is a must-read. Also with the latest season of Kaun Banga Crorepati having quite a few questions on the evergreen Amar Chitra Katha comics, it is another reason to get back to re-reading these and refreshing our memories!
