A heartfelt goodbye to the current chapter is always a good idea before moving on to the next. As we stand on the threshold to embark upon 2023, let's recollect and applaud some of the best movies of 2022. There's no question there has to be mention about women, right? This year we had some best female lead movies made also covering deeply rooted social issues in India

So let me give you a list of my best movies with a female in the leading role of 2022, so you can skip asking what to watch on the web, quora, or Instagram stories during holidays.

1. Gangubai Kathiyawadi

We are occasionally compelled to leave our superficial world and confront the hard facts of life. This movie gave me one of those unpleasant but necessary awakenings. The story is not hurried; instead, it sinks deep into your heart and leaves you breathless as you witness Gangubhai's triumph. I greatly appreciate the respect they have shown towards the feminine gender as a whole. The movie is surely created with great regard and respect for the community it was portraying. Despite the fact that Gangubhai is the main character, I think the story is a tribute to the sex workers' community. It commands respect, demonstrates power, and most importantly, it shows the rawness of humans.

2. A Thursday

A THURSDAY starts off with the impression of being a lovely, comical movie. However, as soon as the suspenseful background music starts, it becomes clear that Naina (Yami Gautam) has an evil scheme in mind. It was extremely well done how she holds the children hostage without making them feel like they are in a dangerous situation or how she trades with the police. The absence of any songs from the movie greatly enhances its thriller element.

3. Darlings

Dark humor is a very tricky genre to pull off but with this film, it is done brilliantly. The extremely sensitive subject of domestic violence is portrayed with an amazing screenplay that keeps you hooked on the screen. The idea that the female is a male's "property" gives rise to the practice of abuse and entitlement. This mentality is a generational heritage that our country has carried into the twenty-first century. There are several brutal action sequences in "Darlings" that do make you angry. They force you to reflect because they are confronting on the surface and beyond.

4. Dhaakad

Agni (Kangana), a special agent with the International Task Force, is the focus of Dhaakad. For what it's worth, the plot concerns a human trafficking ring that she is instructed to uncover, one that is managed by Rudraveer (Arjun Rampal), who also controls the coal mafia. Blood, gore, action, gunfire, and people with unique quirks are all present and deliver a powerful visual impact.

5. Ammu

Ammu is again a movie based on the subject of domestic violence, starring Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female protagonist. But, it manages to have its own unique essence. This story revolves around a girl who believes marriage is a fairytale until she experiences the havoc that can be caused by a toxic husband. The predatory husband behavior is typical of toxic, controlling men in our society. Men, like Ravindranath, a character played by Naveen Chandra in the film Ammu, may present as white knights to society; as a result, no one ever questions the purpose of their capes, which are solely worn to hide the blood on their hands.

6. Shabaash Mithu

Sports biopics are a prevalent genre that is presented in the most traditional way in nearly all Hindi films. Unlike this Srijit Mukherji-directed story, which informs us of the real challenges our female cricketers endure. The fast-moving drama explores the beginnings of former Indian Women's Cricket team captain Mithali Durai Raj and her rise from underdog to victor. The storyline examined the brutal reality of gender inequality in athletics and the battle to be treated equally with the dominant gender. It is a gripping life story of a fantastic women's cricket player, expertly played by Tapsee, a woman of incredible talent.

7. Jalsa

Jalsa is a gripping human tale with thrilling elements. The presentation of the fragility and susceptibility of human conduct and life is very subtly yet well done. It recognizes the full spectrum of human emotions, including regret, sadness, wrath, and corruption. Vidya Balan portrays prominent journalist Maya Menan as a confident, morally upright lady. But one event alters everything. On the other hand, Shefali Shah's portrayal of Ruksana, Maya's cook, shows her to be a simple woman with a kind heart. The accident, which is expertly timed to occur at the start of the film, brings Maya and Rukhasana's worlds into conflict with one another. What follows is a very steady but uncritical look at morality, parenthood, and status.
