Insta BUZZ: 8 Things That Turn You Into A BAD GIRL For The Society

What is the definition of a ‘BAD GIRL’? Not following orders? Not listening to anyone? Or simply not moulding yourself into the standards set by the society? Everyday, every single thing we do is heavily scrutinised by society. It’s as good as walking on eggshells everyday. But, are these so-called standards really sensible or just because we break some stereotypes, one is conveniently categorised in the ‘BAD GIRL’ group?

We at Girls Buzz constantly believe in breaking stereotypes and shedding some light on the daily things that women undergo even after so many years of independence. Apart from our website we cover a lot of these on our Girls Buzz Instagram Page and one such post that went up in January was this. So this time on Insta Buzz here’s how we decode it.

1. If You Ditch Ethnic Clothes For That Trending Pair Of Jeans

Like seriously? How can clothes be a judge of someone’s character? We may love salwar kameez or a saree or be more comfortable in a jeans shirt combo or even a pair of minis. How does it matter? If guys wear a pair of shorts are they judged as ‘BAD’ guys too? No, na. It is our body and we decide what to wear, what others think doesn’t matter. Just we should be comfortable donning it on.

2. If You Have Male Friends In Your Circle

‘A guy and a girl cannot be just friends’. This notion has been drilled in our minds since childhood courtesy some Bollywood movies too. But let’s be honest, many of us actually have that closest friend who is a guy and he is just a FRIEND. If it’s ok for a man to have friends who are girls why can’t girls have male friends in her close knit group? High time people realise not always ‘Just friends’ means something more.

3. If You Are Dating The Guy Of Your Choice

It’s your life and it’s you who is spending your precious time with someone you like. Why feel guilty about it? If at some time you make him your life partner again it’s your call. Even if things don’t work out, it’s fine. Dating or not dating a guy is completely your choice, if someone lets you feel otherwise, it’s their problem not yours.

4. If You Give Preference To Career Over Marriage

In today’s world having a stable career and being financially independent is more important than anything else. Everyone has their priorities, no one gives hand of their daughter to a guy who is not financially stable, isn’t that true? Then why can’t a girl decide to pursue her career first and then decide when or if she wants to get married at all.

5. If You Do The Non-Girly Stuff Like Playing Football Or Riding A Motorcycle

Next time someone says Football or riding a bike is for guys, just ignore them or better still, show them some of your skills. Whether we ride a bike, an aeroplane or even a bulldozer, our wish, our rules. Women are setting new standards everyday in so-called men-oriented places. If a guy riding a scooty is not girly then why is riding a motorbike by a woman frowned upon?

6. If You Say No To Dowry Demands Or A Lavish Wedding

Already we are leaving our home behind, going in for a 360 degree change in our life and then we need to pay monetarily for it too? NEVER entertain dowry demands. If you want a lavish wedding too, then the expenses should be split between both parties. Only fair considering it’s two of you who are getting married not JUST you. It doesn’t make you a bad girl, it actually shows your strength.

7. If You Go On Travel Trips Before Getting Married

A guy can go on countless trips with or without friends, before getting married or even after getting married and it’s considered he is just enjoying with friends while a girl can’t? If going out on trips before marriage puts you in the ‘BAD’ girl list, then the same rule should apply for guys too, as simple as that.

8. If You Don't Know How To Make Gol Rotis

If you know cooking it’s fine, if you don’t it’s fine too. Just not knowing how to make ‘gol rotis’ cannot make you a good or bad girl. Cooking is a skill, it’s fine not to know it. Are guys supposed to always know cooking? No, right? Then why the double standard applying it only to girls?
