Back in the day, we would wait for Bollywood films to take style cues, now we wait for real weddings of Bollywood celebrities. Ever since Anushka Sharma’s dreamy wedding at Lake Como in 2017, we’ve all become obsessed with the way our favourite Bollywood actors are tying the knot. Whether it’s a cosy intimate wedding or something that involves dhoom-dhaam, they do become the talk of the town for months together. From the offbeat location choices to the décor, and the statement bridal outfits, Bollywood weddings have surely become a blend of artistry and fine craftsmanship.

Wedding Wardrobe Inspiration from these 6 Bollywood Brides of 2021

Despite the raging pandemic, 2021 saw some beautiful celebrity weddings that reigned over the internet for all the right reasons. If you’re getting married in 2022, take inspiration from the stunning wardrobe choices of the following new-age Bollywood brides:

  • Yami Gautam

Are you someone who prefers a no-fuss and simplistic bridal look? Take style cues from Yami Gautam’s wedding. The B-town actor got married to filmmaker, Aditya Dhar, in a hush-hush ceremony in Himachal Pradesh, earlier in June 2021. In an age where brides pick multiple designer ensembles, Yami decided to wear clothes and jewellery handed down by three different generations of her family. She wore her mother’s traditional red saree, chose a matching dupatta that was gifted to her by her maternal grandmother, and completed her look with heirloom jewellery and a Pahaadi nath gifted to her by her grandmother.

Oh, and we forgot to mention, Yami turned into her own makeup artist for her D-day.

We absolutely love how Yami decided to embrace her traditional and cultural roots over exorbitant designer outfits. Her radiant smile is testimony to this.

  • Rhea Kapoor

Rhea Kapoor is known for her sartorial fashion choices. Not once but several times has she styled her sister and Bollywood actor, Sonam Kapoor. When she tied the knot with her long-time beau, Karan Boolani, earlier this year, she as usual broke the internet. She chose to ditch the conventional red lehenga and opted for an off-white chanderi saree by Anamika Khanna instead. Everything about her intimate home-wedding was “different”. She paired her saree with a half-sleeved blouse and wore an ivory and gold tone cape over it. Well, what we really loved about her whole ensemble was her unique veil made by using thousands of little pearls.

As far as her makeup was concerned, she opted for a matte look and drew attention to her eyes with a winged liner. To complete her bridal look, Rhea Kapoor chose to wear her mother’s jewellery which we believe had tonnes of sentimental value in her life.

  • Patralekhaa Paul

In November this year, Patralekhaa married her long-time boyfriend, Rajkummar Rao in an intimate ceremony in Chandigarh. While most brides choose to wear a lehenga on their D-day, Patralekhaa opted for a deep red saree from ace designe Sabyasachi Mukherjee. She chose to cover her head with the classic Sabyasachi veil that even Deepika Padukone wore. Her dupatta had Bengali words inscribed on the border and it read “Amar poran bhora bhalobasha aami tomaye somorpan korilam” (I surrender my heartfelt love to you).

Despite her conventional bridal look, there was something very emotional about her entire ensemble. For jewellery, she wore a statement polki choker, matching jhumkas and a stone-studded matha patti from Sabyasachi’s jewellery line.

  • Anushka Ranjan

Ditching the usual red, pink and orange, Anushka Ranjan became the talk of the town when she opted for a lavender lehenga for her wedding day. We’re completely in awe of her look. Besides her unconventional lehenga colour choice, her entire look was different altogether. We’ve seen brides obsessed with wearing uncut diamonds and polki on their wedding. However, Anushka wore an intricate diamond set, silver kaleeras and pale yellow bridal chooda. Her mehendi and makeup was minimal too.

Would you dare to experiment so much on your big day? Kudos to Anushka for pulling off this great look with so much ease. Safe to say, she looked like a lavender beauty.

  • Katrina Kaif

Did you too spend half your December watching the Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal wedding on Instagram? If yes, join the bandwagon. The three-day affair was definitely a feast for the eyes. It was something definitely done in true-blue Bollywood wedding style. Katrina Kaif looked like a vision on her wedding festivities.

She wore a red bridal handwoven silk lehenga by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, and chose the classic gold-trimmed veil from the same designer. For jewellery, she chose a heavy gold choker that had uncut diamonds, jhumka, hand-strung pearls, a matha patti and a sheesh-patti.

Not just her wedding day, Katrina looked even more radiant on her smaller functions too. Whether it was her multi-coloured lehenga on her mehendi, off-white outfit on her haldi or pastel cutwork saree on her white wedding, Katrina surely got all eyes on her this December. It was surely our favourite Bollywood wedding after #Virushka.

  • Ankita Lokhande

Not one Vicky but two got married this December. We’re talking about Ankita Lokhande’s husband, Vicky Jain. Her elaborate gold wedding lehenga from designer Manish Malhotra made headlines on Instagram for all the right reasons. Ankita decided to accessorise her exquisite look with a magnificent uncut diamond necklace and earrings. She also wore a dainty matha patti, and gold and white bangles.

What we loved the most about her look was her unconventional lehenga colour choice and heavily embellished sequins dupatta. She looked radiant on her big day and gave out some serious bridechilla vibes as she danced and sang her heart out on her pre-wedding festivities.

Brides-to-be, take note.
