Wondering who is Garima Arora?

Garima Arora is a Michelin star chef who would be debuting as a judge in the latest season of MasterChef India. 36-year-old Garima is the first Indian woman who won the prestigious Michelin star, which is like the Oscar for food world! She was born in Mumbai and finished her graduation from Le Cordon Bleu in Paris in 2010. She has worked with some amazing chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Gaggan Anand and Rene Redzepi. She owns the restaurant by the name of Gaa in Bangkok and apart from it, runs a delivery service EatWell.

In 2019 she was awarded the title of Asia’s best female chef! Wow! We have an amazing talented lady here! She has also launched Food Forward India in August 2019, which is an initiative to prioritize the future of Indian Foods.

Curious about Michelin Star?

The Michelin star is awarded under Michelin Guides which is a series of books that have been published since the year 1900 by a French tyre company Michelin! Confused further, what does a tyre company have to do with food? Well, their history is surely interesting on how what was supposed to be a guide for French motorists translated into guide awards that can be up to three Michelin stars based on excellence of a restaurant. The concept of Michelin star began in 1926 with just one star which extended to up to 3 stars in 1933, and since then there is no looking back! Three stars mark exceptional and outstanding cooking and consistency. Its extremely tough to touch the super high parameters! It is considered the highest possible hallmark of culinary excellence and that’s why this accolade is much coveted by all chefs across the globe.

Why is it so special to have her as a judge on Masterchef?

For MasterChef India (Hindi), this would be the first time we will be having a female judge joining the panel, as Garima Arora is the first female judge joining in and having her on board is bound to add in a new perspective and freshness to the show. Also, the judges panel would have two Michelin Star Chefs this time as Chef and restaurateur Vikas Khanna was also awarded Michelin star for many consecutive years for his restaurant Junoon.

What does Garima have to say about her debut?

A leading daily quoted her words, "I am thrilled to join Chef Vikas Khanna and Chef Ranveer Brar for 'MasterChef India'. It's a one-of-a-kind show which gives aspiring chefs a platform to showcase cuisines from every corner of the country and rise above and beyond to pursue their passion for cooking.” Well, we can surely sense her excitement and we can’t help but share the mutual feeling as well!
