Shaadi season is around the corner and we, for one, are very serious about shaadis. Whether it is the decor, the outfits, the rituals or the show stopping makeup looks or most importantly, the food, we love everything about big fat Indian weddings. Our weddings have a very warm and wholesome touch to them. When it comes to throwing the trendiest and most glamorous wedding, we often find ourselves looking up to bollywood for some good old inspiration.

We have to admit that Bollywood weddings always become the talk of the town and remain the hot topic even days after the wedding itself. Remember how Bollywood’s most loved couple Deepika and Ranveer left everyone gaping after their stylish yet cultural wedding saga in India as well as Italy!? That’s what we’re talking about!

Whether it is the classic red lehengas or over the top trendsetting shaadi outfits, Bollywood brides often find themselves going viral for options they pick for their D-Day. While red is the defining colour of hindu weddings, many modern bollywood brides have ditched the ‘red lehenga look’ for more subtle or even bolder looks.

Bollywood celebrities have set the wedding bar too high. Many of us dream of having our own weddings in the most filmy style with the most dreamy lehengas, but the amount of money celebrities splurge often leaves us saying- never mind I’m good!

However, we can take inspiration from these weddings and create our own unique, one-of-a-kind outfits.

So let’s see what B-Town has in store for us!

1. Classic Red Sarees for the reception

Classic red sarees are all the rage! Nothing matches the grace of a saree and no wedding is complete without at least one red outfit. Over the past years the B-Town ladies have served us some of the most stunning classic red saree looks, and we can not just seem to have enough of them! Whether it was Deepika Padukone’s red Kanjivaram saree or the red Banarsi saree by Sabyasachi that Anushka Sharma picked for her reception, red sarees never disappoint.

Most recently, Patralekha, who married long time love, the gorgeous Rajkumar Rao, opted for a stunning Sabyasachi saree for her D-day.

Her look was complemented with a beautifully embroidered red veil and handcrafted vintage jewellery which was also Sabyasachi.

The classic red saree look goes back to the wedding sagas of celebrities like Shilpa Shetty, Aishwarya Rai and even Madhuri Dixit. It seems like this classic look never goes out of fashion, whatsoever!

2. Pretty in Pastel

There is just something about pastel outfits that make our hearts flutter. A pastel shade for your D-day is always a good idea. While pastel lehengas and sarees as wedding outfits is a recent trend, it is picking up faster than we think. Pastel colours are epitome of elegance and charm and the B-town ladies left all of us gaping with their gorgeous pastel bridal looks.

From Sonam Kapoor to Anushka Sharma, Neha Dhupia and Meera Rajput, the pastel pink lehenga was the trendsetter from 2018-20. All these ladies picked beautiful designs with

For her second reception in Mumbai, Priyanka Chopra opted for the most beautiful pastel lehenga in grey-pink.

Her lehenga complemented Nick Jonas’s all-black outfit in the most stunning way.

Pairing pastel lehengas with contrasting dupattas was another B-town trend. Soha Ali Khan, the Pataudi bride, is definitely our inspiration for the most regal yet unconventional melange of colours and style. She paired her pastel lehenga with a bright orange dupatta.

A showstopper indeed!

Lastly, the groom and the bride twinning in pastels was the cutest Bollywood trend we saw. Neha Kakkar and Rohanpreet matched in a pretty pastel pink while Bigg Boss famed Rubina Dilaik and husband Abhinav Shukla also contrasted in pastel shades.

3. White? White!

Although a lesser picked option in the wedding game, white is the colour of peace. White outfits are the new normal in the bollywood shaadi saga.

Neha Kakkar, who got hitched just last year, wore the prettiest white lehenga from the shelves of Falguni and Shane Peacock. Her lehenga had minute embellishments and embroidery patterns which complimented her studded blouse and statement jewellery perfectly!

Our most recent bride in white is the stunning Rhea Kapoor. Designer Anamika Khanna brought out her best work through a white chanderi saree for the actress’ big day. Paired with a gorgeous pearl donned veil, Rhea Kapoor’s wedding look had everyone gaping. Her look was unconventional and out of the box.

Natasha Dalal also went for a white look for her mehendi ceremony. The most well known and talked-about designer herself, Natasha opted for a beautiful white lehenga with intricate gold embellishments. A simple and unique outfit.

4. Family Heirlooms

The queen of bollywood and our favourite Poo, had the internet in her palms when she donned the heirloom of the pataudi khandaan. Worn by Begum Sajida, the wife of the eighth Nawab of Pataudi and then by the beautiful Sharmila Tagore, Bebo was next in line. The family heirloom was altered to fit Kareena by designer Ritu Kumar.

Another actress who went for refurbishing a family treasure is Yami Gautam. The Bollywood beauty’s classic red bridal outfit belonged to her mother! A traditional silk saree with intricate gold work, was paired beautifully with a floral blouse and a red dupatta which was a gift from her maternal grandmother! The jewels Yami wore were also family treasures which were passed on to her!

Now now, we obviously can not land a pataudi heirloom or a 33 year old authentic silk saree! But what we are trying to convey here, is holding on to a family dress (like your mom’s or your nani’s). Being the trendsetter by styling your mom’s lehenga with your unique sense of style can be a trend on its own!

Moreover, the value of a family heirloom tops everything!

Whether you opt for one of the options our divas have set for you, or choose your own unique style, what matters is that nothing compares to the happiness of your wedding day. So we suggest you wear your dream dress and have the time of your life on your special day!
