Daughters are undoubtedly a blessing for the family. They are their father’s princess and the life of any home. Not that sons are any less, but daughters are very precious and a little extra close specially to their dads. Right from when they are born dolling them up, shopping for those beautiful frilled frocks, colourful hair accessories, indulging in some fancy Barbie dolls shopping to spending some time at tea parties with their dolls, each moment of their growing up is special!

The fathers and brothers will surely agree that their princess just grows up too quickly. Equality begins at home and we believe you must treat sons and daughters equally and teach them both the same things as well. If it's cooking, should be taught to both and if it’s sports, and both are interested then again should be taught to both! When it comes to daughters, we teach them a few extra things too as they grow up, how to behave properly, be prim and proper always, be soft spoken and what not. But very often the most important things that we must teach our daughters are missed out.

We cover some real world advice on our Girls Buzz Instagram page and one of the carousels this month was all about ‘7 most important things to teach our daughters’. So here’s presenting a detailed take for your very own section INSTA BUZZ!

1. Do What You Love, Not What Society Expects

Do What You Love, Not What Society Expects

We make the society , it's not the other way round. As they say ‘kuchh toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna’, people always have something to say. If your daughter studies masters, it will be don’t educate them too much, you won’t find a good guy and if they don’t know cooking, there may be another series of taunts altogether. So, encourage your daughters to do what they love. As long as they are correct, tell them you got their back and what others think shouldn't bother them at all.

2. Never Doubt Your Strength

Never Doubt Your Strength

As parents, the biggest strength of your daughter lies in YOU! Tell them they need to trust themselves and you are their support system too. If they strive to do something, they just need to give their 100% and the victory is theirs. Surely, Bachendri Pal wouldn’t have scaled Mt. Everest if she didn’t believe in her inner strength!

3. Every Single Body Is Beautiful

Every Single Body Is Beautiful

How one looks is the least of concern. Complexions, height etc are just physical traits, they should never be a concerning factor for anyone. Tell your daughters to look at the inner beauty and never let anyone body shame them or someone else. Be it themselves or their friends, colleagues etc. every single person is beautiful in their own way!

4. Look For The Positives In Every Situation

Encourage your daughters to never lose their confidence. The situation can be very testing, but they will emerge victorious. Being positive is the key! At the same time, always tell them you are there so if they feel they are stuck at any place, they can reach out to you anytime.

5. Value Your Opinion And Stay Strong

Value Your Opinion And Stay Strong

Very often than not, the opinions of girls are oppressed. Tell them to never give anyone the right to belittle their opinion. They should express their opinions strongly and stick to them. They need to stand up for themselves. Right from their young age you should include your daughters in important conversations so they never shy away from expressing what they believe.

6. Don’t Be Afraid To Fail

Don’t Be Afraid To Fail

Failure is the part of success. The quote ‘Rise from the Ashes’ is just not a sentence. Teach your daughters they may not always succeed but you believe in them and they will reach the heights of success if they work hard and never fear failure. The biggest examples of inspirational people in the world mostly tasted failure at some point of their life but it didn't demotivate them and they rose to success.

7. Focus On Your Health, Not Your Clothes Size

Focus On Your Health, Not Your Clothes Size

Fat or thin, how does it matter if one is healthy? Girls particularly fall victim to this ideal figure size theory and hamper their health sometimes while trying to achieve it. Always teach your daughters, it’s not the cloth’s size they wear that matters, rather it’s their health that will keep them up and about and ensure they lead an amazing life.

So, here are some things that you must teach your daughters. Would you like to add more? Do tell us in the comments section below.
