Toner is the second step of your CTM routine. Many people skip this step and use a moisturiser or serum right after washing their face. A toner helps in tightening the pores and clean them further. Anyone who has large open pores and acne-prone skin type can definitely include a toner in their skincare routine. A toner can be as simple as rose water too! Again, choose a toner that suits your skin goal. 

 

Serums:

Everyone has different skin goals and wants to treat specific issues on their skin. While some want a serum that can treat acne, some would like glowy glass-like skin. From treating pigmentation to improving texture, whatever your skin concern may be, a serum can help you achieve it. There are a lot of amazing serums like vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid and salicylic acid available in the market you can invest in.

 

Moisturising:

No, you cannot skip a moisturiser even if you have oily skin! We knew you had that question in mind! From people with dry skin to oily skin, everyone needs to use a moisturiser that suits their skin. Providing your skin with a layer of hydration is extremely important, especially on ageing skin. Dry-skinned beauties can go in for a thick cream bases moisturiser, whereas oily acne-prone skinned beauties can choose an oil-free light moisturiser. 

Sunscreen:

Hey! Where are you going without an SPF? Using sunscreen every day is like drinking water; you cannot afford to miss it! Be it sunny or rainy, winter or summer, wearing sunscreen is important in every weather, season and day. Sunscreen prevents sun damage, premature ageing, skin cancer and many more skin conditions. Apply sun protection with a minimum of SPF 30 and one that protects from both UVB and UVA rays. 

NIGHT SKINCARE ROUTINE

Remove your makeup:

One of the biggest skincare mistakes people make is sleeping with their makeup on! Leaving makeup on the face can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Your makeup may often get mixed with pollution, dirt and dust throughout the day, leading to dull skin and the growth of acne-causing bacteria. So, cleansing your face before going to bed should be the first step in your nighttime skincare routine. Most makeup we use is waterproof, so double-cleansing is the best way to get rid of all the makeup residue. Use micellar water or a makeup cleansing balm to remove your makeup.

 

Cleanse:

After removing your makeup, the next step is to wash your face with a cleanser. This step is necessary to remove any residue left on the face after using a makeup remover. This step will help in cleaning build-ups of dirt, oil or makeup. Use a facewash according to your skin type and wash it off with lukewarm water.

Retinol:

One step you should religiously follow every night once you touch your mid-twenties is using retinol. This magical skincare ingredient requires an article in itself! Retinol helps in unclogging the pores, treats acne, fine lines and wrinkles, increases cell production and has many more benefits for the skin. Retinol can make your skin more sensitive to UV rays, so make sure to wear sunscreen the next day. 

 

Spot treatment:

Another step you can include in your night skincare routine is spot-treating specific skin issues. You can do acne spot treatment or pigmentation treatment at night. 

 

Moisturise:

The last step in your night skincare routine should always be moisturising. Using a moisturiser or night cream can help you achieve healthy, glowy skin the next morning!
