10 Most Anticipated Netflix Series likely to Release in the Last Quarter of 2023

The year 2023 as of now saw a whole lot of exciting web shows and movies released on Netflix. The leading streaming giant is all set to make the last quarter of 2023 exciting as it has renewed many Hindi as well as English web series for another season. An announcement for the same was made at TUDUM 2023 – an exclusive global fan event organised by Netflix.

As we reach the last quarter of the year, let’s take a look at some of the most awaited series that are going to be released on Netflix soon.

Though the exact dates of some of these shows haven’t been announced, the streaming platform has confirmed that they will be hitting our screens soon.

Upcoming Netflix Series 2023

• Surviving Summer 2

The Australian family drama is back with a new season releasing globally on 15^th September 2023. When the series hit Netflix in June last year, it managed to make it to the streaming platform’s top 10. Comprising another 10 episodes, the makers have decided to stick to their main cast for the sequel. However, there will be a few new additions namely Olympia Valance, Annabel Wolfe, and Josh MacQueen. We’re hoping the highly anticipated second season is as promising as the first with its captivating storyline and unexpected twists.

• Sex Education 4

Finally, after 2 years of the release of season 3, Sex Education: Season 4 is all set to arrive on 21^st September 2023. The fourth season of the British sex comedy will also be the finale season. Fans have expressed mixed emotions on the same. The upcoming series is going to be witnessing a lot of casting shifts. We can’t wait to see what the show has in store for us. The previous season of the teen drama ended with students receiving the news that they must seek education elsewhere. Thankfully, the wait’s not too long.

• Choona

If you’re a fan of web-series that have crooks, liars and thieves, you’ll be happy to know that Choona, a heist comedy, is going to be premiering on 29^th September 2023. Starring Jimmy Shergill in the lead, the series was initially slated for release on August 3^rd. The show will take viewers on an exhilarating ride through a whirlwind of vengeance and chaos. We watched the trailer and it looks quite promising.

• Heeramandi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali films are recognised for their opulence and grandeur. The ace director is all said to make his OTT debut with his new web show, Heeramandi. When the first poster of the show came out, everybody was waiting for it with bated breath. A lot of other reports reveal that it is going to be the digital equivalent of Mughal-e-Azam. The eight-episode “magnum opus” is likely to be released in October 2023. We surely can’t wait to watch this visually-stunning treat backed by a stellar cast.

• Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale

If you too are a big fan of reality TV like me, you’re probably waiting for the behind-the-scenes of this big fat Indian wedding to hit the screen. Actor Nayanthara tied the knot with director Vignesh Shivan on 9^th June 2022. Netflix released a promo of the docu-series in September last year. However, after that there has been nothing doing the rounds with regard to its official release. We pray we get a sneak-peek into their lives and marriage soon. If reports are to be believed, the reality show is likely to be released by December 2023.

While the above five web series are definitely releasing in 2023, here are a few others which have been renewed for season 3. We’re hoping if not all, we at least get a few releases this year. The second season of all these shows premiered in 2022:

• Delhi Crime 3

Fans are anxiously waiting for the third instalment of Delhi Crime to release. Though it was announced earlier this year, nothing has yet been said as far as the release date is concerned. Season 3 will again see Shefali Shah reprise her role as DCP Vartika Chaturvedi. Keeping in mind the last two seasons, the third one is also likely to revolve around real-life criminal cases and will also delve deep into the intricacies of the justice system and thought-provoking social issues. We pray the show gets a release date soon.

• Mismatched 3

When the first season of Mismatched came out in 2021, it was well-received by the public. Youngsters and millennials particularly enjoyed it. We were super-stoked when we got to know that Netflix India’s homegrown romantic series is coming back with its third season. Since season 1 and 2 came out in 2021 and 2022 respectively, we can expect the makers to drop the trailer for season 3 anytime soon. We’re excited to see what chemistry Dimple Ahuja and Rishi Shekhawat share this time.  

• The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives 3

There is a season 3 of TFLOBW in the works and if reports are to be believed this instalment is going to have more drama, more glam and a new member. Well, we really wonder who that is going to be. Can’t wait to catch the gang back on our screen very soon.

• Kota Factory 3

Kota Factory: season 3 is expected to premiere on Netflix in December 2023. The series revolves around the lives of the students living in Kota and the struggles they face in their daily lives as they prepare for the IIT entrance exam. We’re waiting for the makers to make an official announcement.

• SHE 3

Lastly, another anticipated series likely to premiere on Netflix ASAP is the third season of SHE. The storyline follows the journey of a police constable who becomes an undercover agent to expose Mumbai’s drug ring. As she realises her potential, her undercover becomes her road to empowerment. It’s going to be exciting to see what the third season has in store for all of us.
