“Weightlifting is just for boys.” “Don’t lift too much weight; you’ll start to look manly.” “All this craze of lifting will go away once you get married.” “You must focus more on cardio and low-intensity training.” Ah! All these notions are like a daily dose given to all the girls who want to do weight lifting. To prove everyone wrong, we have the cutest little Arshia Goswami, who is just eight years old and India’s Youngest Weightlifter! Can you even imagine? A child who is just eight years old lifts as heavily as a professional adult powerlifter. Let’s learn more about her story and get inspired!

Arshia, born on 1st January 2015, started her journey as a weight and powerlifter when she was only five years old. Weightlifting is not all that she does. Arshia also started her journey in taekwondo a year later of powerlifting. Born in Panchkula, Haryana, Arshia is the strongest little girl in India, and that leaves every chest wide with pride!

Being only around 26 kg, Arshia set a record for deadlifting more than twice her body weight when she was only six years, 11 months and 27 days old. This incident opened her golden journey, and she entered the India Book of Records as the ‘Youngest Deadlifter.’ This little girl doesn’t only deadlift but can also squat around 46 kg and bench press 25 kg. That is highly commendable! She is a state-level gold medal holder and second worldwide rank holder after Rory Van.

Her biggest inspiration, motivation and supporter in her journey has been her father, Avnish Goswami, who is a certified fitness trainer. He also revealed that Arshia eats only home-cooked healthy food and has never had a taste of chocolate in her entire life.

Arshia surely is an inspiration not just for kids of her age but for adults like us too! Hats off to her and her dedication! We are very proud of her and wish her all the good luck!
