Ingredients for pizza

  •       1 bowl of oats
  •       Water as required
  •       Homemade pizza sauce
  •       Capsicum sliced
  •       Onion sliced
  •       Mushroom sliced
  •       Sweet corns
  •       Diet cheese sliced (or grated)
  •       Salt as required
  •       Chili flakes and pizza seasoning.

Method for Pizza

  •       In a grinding jar, add about 1 bowl of oats and grind it into a fine flour-like texture. If you are unable to get that powdery flour not to worry, coarsely ground oats can also be used for this one.

powdered oats

  •       Now, in a bowl, transfer the oats flour we have just prepared. Along with it, add about a pinch of salt or as you like it. Thereafter, slowly add water to the flour and use a whisker to whisk the flour into a runny paste. Leave it for about 15 minutes.
  •       Meanwhile, slice your vegetables for the pizza topping. Here we are using capsicum, mushroom, boiled sweet corns, and onion. If you want, you can add the toppings as per your choice.

chopped capsicum, onion, mushroom, and sweet corn

  •       After about 15 minutes, check the consistency of the oats mixture. It would have turned dry because oats soak the water. So, add more water and make it a smooth paste again.
  •       Now, for the pizza, use a non-stick pan because that would work the best for this recipe.

pizza dough on a pan

  •       Put the cooking pan on the low flame, spread some oil at the bottom, and add the oats paste to the bottom of the pizza. Now, this is where the consistency matters because you need the pizza base thick like ½ centimeter.
  •       Spread the mixture nicely and cover the lid. You will notice how the upper side of the oats will change the color as the bottom is cooking.

cooked pizza base

  •       Touch the upper side and check if the mixture is sticking sticky. If not, this is the time to flip it.
  •       Here comes the tricky part because while flipping, chances are the base will break. So, what you can do is put a big plate on top and flip the pan in one shot.

ready pizza base

  •       As you get the cooked side on the plate, spread the sauce, add your toppings, sprinkle some pizza seasoning and chili flakes, and even some salt. Now, add the cheese slices.

adding toppings on pizza base

  •       Another tricky part is to transfer the pizza back to the pan. So, DO NOT pick it up from your hands as the base will surely break. Instead, use a spatula and gently transfer the pizza to the pan by placing the spatula under the base and using just a little force.

covering and cooking the pizza

  •       I hope you do that successfully. Now, cover the lid and let it cook on a low flame for about 10 minutes.
  •       Take off the lid and you will see the delicious pizza in the pan.
  •       Transferring pizza from the pan to the serving tray would be easy because that’s why we have used a non-stick pan.

So, cut your pizza in slices, sprinkle some seasoning on top, and voila!!! Your healthified, desified, and super-rich homemade oats pizza is all ready to eat.

Tips for the recipe

  •       You may think the final outcome of this recipe ends up in having a chewy dough with a no-porous texture like normal pizza. Well, to have them, we would need to add some baking or yeast ingredients which are generally not good for health. However, if you want you can add about ½ a teaspoon of baking soda to it and use it instantly to make the pizza.
  •       Here we have used a simple base with the flavor of just salt. If you want, you can also add other ingredients in the dough itself like garlic, flakes, or seasoning.
  •       You need to be very very careful while filing the base from one side to another. So, make sure you do that with patience otherwise it will break in no time.

They are incredibly nutritious

Oats are not just any grain but something that is loaded with rich vitamins, minerals, and excellent antioxidants. These are undoubtedly the most nutritionally dense food you can eat. In this pizza recipe, we are using 1 bowl or about 1 cup of oats which means you will be taking in:

  •       190% (RDI) manganese,
  •       About 40% (RDI) phosphorus, vitamins, and magnesium,
  •       24% (RDI) copper, iron, and zinc, and
  •       Around 12% of Folate

Controls cholesterol level

Oats have a nice amount of high-soluble fiber content. Every time you cook or soak oats in water or milk, you notice that gel-like structure and this is where all the fiber lies. This is something that makes oats a magic food to ease your digestion and control cholesterol. So, anyone dealing with relatable issues must go for it.

Balances blood sugar level

Not many people know this but about 72% of adults in India are fighting diabetes. This disease may have many causes but can be controlled if you get the right food in your daily diet. Oats should be one item in that list because of their power to control your blood sugar level.

It’s filling

‘What do you mean by that?’ you may ask. Well, oats are good at keeping you full for long. Having filling foods in your diet keeps you away from consuming more calories as you may count. This is the reason why we are using oats in this recipe because that’s where all your diet makes the difference.

Do you see how good are oats for you? No doubt this recipe is amazing to add to your weight-loss or disease-free diet.
